Seaworthy and great looking I have seen pilothouses like these on whalers that are used by the coast guard. They look pretty good and make the boats look even more seaworthy than they already are. - Fairdeal

Two Thumbs Up! I give Pacific Pilothouse 2 thumbs up. I have seen several on Whalers and they complimented the hull. Certainly more sound than a flimsy T-top. I have yet to take a ride on a Whaler with a T-top that has not had several welds crack and require repairs. In fact, my best friend’s 17 Outrage has broken welds every year since he got the boat. Nine years in all some of the welds have been repaired several times and modifications to strengthen the top have proved futile. T-tops are not the only option. Sometimes something more substantial is needed. - RJay

Found you! These pilothouses look great! Very much like what Boston Whaler Commercial Products Division came up with twenty years ago. I was in Sitka [Alaska] last summer and there was an Outrage 20 with a similar pilothouse on it. I could never find any information on that manufacturer, but I think I have found you! - TWClark

Advantage: Windshield Wipers One big advantage of a pilothouse over the t-top/enclosure route (which I have) is windshield wipers. On those misty mornings, I'm constantly reaching around with a squeegee to keep the visibility clear. I'd say these type of pilot houses are a good option for the 22' and larger Outrage hulls. - Agere

Pilothouse Conversions I live in Central California, and around here, there's been decades of Whaler modifications and custom pilothouses added onto stock hulls… Nothing against stock Whalers, but this isn't sunny Florida out here and wind and chop coming over the rail doesn't improve my boating experience. I've found that for what I want a boat to do, it's improved the boat 400%. I prefer to drive standing up, I have much better gear storage, I stay much warmer and completely dry, and the 'walk room' that's been created by this type of set up gives you, in practical terms, a much bigger boat. I've taken the boat on extended, multi day coastal exploration adventures (and to Canada last summer on the outside of Vancouver Island), and it works beyond my wildest dreams. - Skiffman

PACIFIC PILOTHOUSE To Assist USCG Rescue 21 System

The U.S. Coast Guard is modernizing its outdated national distress communications system. The new system, called Rescue 21, will be the nation's primary maritime emergency system for the more than 78 million boaters and 13 million vessels that navigate coastal and intercoastal waters.

The system will greatly improve the Coast Guard's ability to detect mayday calls from boaters, pinpoint the location of the source of the call, and coordinate rescue operations throughout the 95,000 mile U.S. coastline and interior waterways.
